How could I forget

What I REALLY miss most about working at the hospital.....
the Bathroom.
Yes, the Bathroom.  Is that weird??
It smelled SO GOOD.  Probably the best smell I've ever smelt.
It's true.  I would go to the Bathroom an excessive amount just so I could smell it.  AND YES, I would spend an extremely long time in there.  I'm sure many of you received texts from me, while on the job, in THE BATHROOM.  That's the only time I could sneak them in.  And it gave me an excuse to go in there.  I wish I could get the scent in my car.... bedroom....and anywhere else for that matter.  If any of you are ever in Provo, stop by the Bathroom, south building, ground floor, by the inpatient/outpatient rehab.  You won't regret it.
I miss it.

What I miss most....

I just finished an 8 week internship at the Utah Valley hospital.  And as much as I love free labor.....I really am going to miss it.

I'm going to miss NOON.  That's when I went out with all the PTs, OTs, my supervisor, and even sometimes "The" Doc and played soccer.  It was so much fun!!

I'm going to miss my patients.  They really made me so happy and I often had to hold myself back from bursting out in laughter. They're SO GREAT.
My favorite patient (who I talked about in an earlier post) amazingly got younger by the minute.  I might call it a case of Benjamin Button.
me: How old are you?
pt: Oh...I don't know. 64?  (mind you, he's 92)
***a mintue passes and I ask again***
me: How old are you?
pt:  63! Ya, I'm 63.

***the next day***
me:  So, what did you do today?
pt:  Oh, I went and visited my mom. (he didn't even leave the building!)
me:  Oh really....I'm suprised your mom is still alive.  How old is she?
pt: I think she's 65 or something.

***another conversation of ours***
me: Are you wearing glasses?
pt: yes, yes I am   (he's not)
me: Do you have your shoes on?
pt: ya, I do.  (he definitely doesn't)

I'm going to miss moments like this...
"Hey Jen, do you have time to do a swallow eval in room 2679?"
"Ya, I do.  I'll go right up and do it."
When I walk into the room I'm thinking....Man, this lady sures sleep awkwardly.  Dang, I'm going to have to wake another one up.  I hate this part. It takes like 5 minutes for them to be coherent.

I walk around the room to get a better view of her face AND........

Her name....Myra Maines!

I'm going to miss EVERYONE.  The physical therapists, speech therapists, nurses, and occupational therapists are all some of the funniest, nicest people I know.

I'm going to miss it.

Parties the WRIGHT way

Okay...I'm not married.  SO, WHY DO YOU HAVE A BLOG?....one might ask.  Well, I might not have a spouse and kids but I do have a family.  And they're freakin awesome.  They're my greatest times!!!

This is them.

You probably noticed that we're situated (or at least we tried to be situated) by color.  We planned it.  :)
That's how family pictures go right?!
This was our party at Memory Grove for Grandma's 77th Birthday Party and boy was it a party.
Happy Birthday Genius Grandma!!

Grandma got all kinds of fun gifts.  77 puzzle pieces, 77 G&Ps, 77 BBBs (you know exactly what those are if you're a Wright), 77 york peppermint patties, 77 "Love yous," 77saftey pins, 77 reason why Jeff and Marti and the boys love her, 77 crossword puzzles, and 77 marbles (just in case she lost hers).

But the parties don't stop there. The very next week we had a Hat party for my aunt Rhonda who is going through chemotherapy.  So we all brought hats, scarfs, headbands (and one huge ugly wig) as gifts to keep her cute and warm this winter.   And we wrote inspirational thoughts and fun jokes for her "Rainy Day Jar," which she can read if she's ever having a downer day.  We love you Rhonda and are praying for your fast recovery!  I can't wait to see which hat you decide to wear next.

AND.....next week I'm having a shoe party!!  I wear a 6 1/2.  :)  I can't wait to see what everyone brings!
I might even try out a boyfriend party.  What do you think?  Everyone bring a boy, I'll try them out and if I don't like them I'll send them back!!   It could work.  Rhonda got some way cute hats!

Cover your Bum!

What kind of demented old lady will you be???
Well....I took the quiz to find out.

A little bit frisky

You are very spry for your age and you tend to suprise people by popping up unexpectedly. You enjoy pinching bottoms of both sexes and you can get away with it as because you are old. You love to giggle and joke, but sometimes make people a little uncomfortable as you tend to be a tad innappropriate.

All I can say is I can't wait to be old.  You better watch out!!  I just went and got ice-cream with my good friend and we were talking about all the crazy old patients we see at the hospitals we're at.  It's so funny that I can sit with my patient and say....
"Today is Tuesday.  What day is it?"
The sweet little (and might I add, well groomed, a lot of hair can be scary) 92 year old man that I do therapy with at the hospital replies,
"Oh, I don't know....Friday?"
This goes on for a half an hour.
And....this is what I'll have 6 years of education and a Master's degree to do!!
It's sad to work with demented individuals but it sure makes work entertaining.
When I'm old and demented, want to go out with me?? I'm sure we'll get the waiters laughing.
They better watch out! I might be a bit frisky.

Feel the heat

I'm feeling a lot of pressure right now.  And the weight of the world is on MY shoulders.  As Ward Employment Specialist, I am responsible for getting the world out of this economic slump.  (sadly I was released from my most favorite calling in the world--Relief Society Teacher).  My goal for my ward is 100% employment.  I'm feeling a lot of pressure.  I'm supposed to report to President Obama.  Yes Obama...my ward has 100% employment.  If you need a job....I am a SPECIALIST.  Just doing my part....

The Stare Down!

Our first party of the year.....well...I'll just let the flier explain.
There was a lot riding on this party, for if this party was a success there would be many more to come. I don't want to ruin the following pictures but let's just say I can't wait for next months party (I hear it might be a speed contest--as in the card game. I'm not into that other stuff. )

This is our cute balcony. I don't know why we didn't spend more time out there all along. It is now my favorite past time. Anyone is invited to come over for some PORCH CHAT.

On to the rules of the night. Now...as the night progressed, we learned from experience and had to add additional rules. Such as, no staring at the girls chest, shining bright lights, or blowing in their face.

This is the night in action. We had these silly glasses with the big ugly nose and mustaches for people to wear.

Oh, Paige....definitely my favorite. You should have seen some of the stuff other people brought.

Me and my other 3 roommates were the refs....hence the whistle.

Besides the most delicious cupcakes ever...we had blow pops and laffy taffy.

Yes, we had a bracket. And probably my favorite part of the night when everyone was silent and staring and the starers. Weird how as a spectator of the sport you don't feel like you can blink either. My eyes starting watering just watching them.

Our WINNERS!! Nick and Jason. I'm not even joking, this contest was legit. I wish you could have seen them. They would do ANYTHING to not blink. To the point where tears were streaming down their face. In case you were wondering how I did....I'm horrible at the game.

welcome welcome, one and all

Yes!! This is true. The day has come AGAIN that I am going to try to start blogging for all my friends and fam. Now...I'll be honest, the last time I started a blog (in which the address still exists out there somewhere and actually Lacy still has a link to from her blog) I set up and never returned to again. That was October 2007. I tried picking up from where I left off but I can't even figure out how to log into it. Oh well....SO, because I really have no idea how to do anything on the computer and my friends at school love for my non-existent computer skills to be the topic of conversation at wedding showers....we'll have to see if I can figure out the blogging thing this time, and make it last longer than 1 day. I'm excited to start sharing and recording my fun adventures and my dating life (that's for you 105)!! They're all married so they think hearing about my single life is so funny....which sometimes it really is. Here's to blogging!!
